Improving Your Health Through Proper Nutrition

Have you ever met a person who wanted something for nothing? I see this attitude very often, especially when someone wants to lose weight, burn fat, or improve their physical health. Frequently, I experience new clients expecting me to work a quick miracle for them. I explain to them it’s a process that it took time for me to get where I am, and it will take time for them to get where they want to be.
Whether you want to lose or gain weight, you cannot neglect your nutrients, specifically vitamins and minerals. Unfortunately, fruits and vegetables alone do not supply the body with the adequate amounts of nutrients. The common cause of most illnesses stems from a lack of nutrients, and poor diet. To ensure you’re getting the proper amount of nutrients, you should supplement with a multivitamin from a plant source.
Vitamins are relatively complex organic substances found in plants, and required in small quantities for controlling the metabolic process. In order to improve your health and get the best performance out of your body, vitamins are essential. Along with vitamins, minerals play a significant role in various bodily functions essential to physical movements. A mineral deficiency can be harmful to the body’s performance.
When it comes to diet and nutrition, there are many fads out there. Fads are here today and gone tomorrow. Your overall physical health should be a larger concern. Therefore, research what works best for your body and then make it a lifestyle by setting health goals and sticking to them.
Before you start a fitness program, learn how many calories your body needs on a daily basis. Every person’s caloric intake will vary based on their lifestyle. You may need to consult with a fitness expert to help you with that information. Knowing where you are will help you get to where you’re going. Choose foods that will benefit your health; these foods should be high in fiber and low in fat. The right amount of protein is just as important. Protein is needed for muscle growth which helps the body metabolize. Points to remember:
- Take time to pay attention to what your spirit is saying to you about your body.
- Do your research where your health is concerned.
- Get involved in a fitness lifestyle and commit to it.
- Take steps to improve your health by making it a lifestyle.
A great man of God once told me that, “discipline will create a desire, and with desire the discipline will be there.” In the next issue, I will discuss steps to obtain a healthier lifestyle.
