As a fitness trainer and consultant I have had countless people come to me for advice on how to lower high blood pressure (hypertension). Well, let me start by saying the process is quite simple. From my perspective this goal can be obtained in about six steps.
Before I give the steps, let’s understand why a person’s blood pressure is considered high. High blood pressure also knows as hypertension represents a blood pressure that is elevated above 140/90mm. What is considered to be normal blood pressure is 120/80mm. High blood pressure may be caused by many diseases ranging from simple nervousness, arteriosclerosis, kidney disease, to food allergies.
Now that we understand what high blood pressure is let’s talk about what we can do to change that report.
Step #1 - Simplify your life! Keep or add things to your life that bring you peace or rest. For example reading the Bible daily, having ten minutes of quiet time, listening to relaxing music (jazz, gospel or Christian), or talking and surrounding yourself with peaceful friends, or friends that make you laugh.
Step #2 - Get rid of fear! What causes anxiety or fear in you life? As believers, we don’t have to fear anything because we have a Father who said that we could cast all of our cares on Him. So, I advise you to take advantage of that.
Step #3 - Get organized! Make a quality decision to be organized. Something great happens to a person when there is order in their life. Organization helps to get you to stay on track. It helps you to see where you are going, when you can possible get there, and allows God the opportunity to show you how to get there.
Step #4 - Change your diet! A person diagnosed with high blood pressure should include high fiber diets, essential fatty acids ( EFA's) that contain the Omega‘s 3s, 6s and 9s, vegetarian type diets, and water intake of 50% to 75% of their body’s weight.
Also, avoid sugar, refined flour, caffeinated coffee or tea, carbonated drinks, and reduce the consumption of red meat and fried foods.
Step #5 - Take multivitamins, minerals and supplements to add to the things that you are not getting in your diet! My suggestion is that you find plant derived colloidal minerals with vitamins and calcium. One of the major causes of high blood pressure is a calcium deficiency.
Step #6 - Exercise! Find some type of exercise that you enjoy and do it at least 30minutes a day.
NOTE: Weight loss can prevent and reverse the symptoms of high blood pressure.
